Below is a layout of the garage and where I built Cedar Creek Cinema. The room has complete light control. The screen is painted on the north wall with seating on the south wall. The dimensions are approximately 11.5' X 19.5' X 8'. The garage door remains so that the outside looks like it always has. The hardware was removed and the door siliconed and screwed shut. It is concealed from the inside by the north wall of the HT room. The HT room itself is about 80% isolated from the garage walls and ceiling. The exceptions are the trim around the outside top to make it appear completely connected to the ceiling (I left a 1/8" gap and sealed with silicone) and the a/c return and vents. I didn't want to attach the room to the existing ceiling because I was afraid it would resonate throughout the attic. I constructed the ceiling the same as the walls. Access to the attic above is easy since the ladder to the attic is located in the corridor leading from the garage to the outside. Of course I insulated the attic as well. I built a 10"-12" riser 6' deep in the rear for raised seating on the back row. There are only two rows and we can toss a beanbag or two on the floor if needed. The floor is carpeted. Wall and ceiling color are decided on later in the construction. A good bit of research went in to planning the room. As the decisions were made and steps completed I updated the construction pages.
